Lauren Siry holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts and is a candidate for a Masters in Contemporary Art from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, England. While at Sotheby’s London, Siry specialised in curating contemporary art, contemporary art history between 1960 and present, and Strategic Management for the Art World.
As a practicing studio artist, Siry has completed studio fine art programs at the San Francisco Art Institute in California and the Studio Arts College International in Florence, Italy. In 2012 Siry returned to San Diego to open 1805 Gallery, an open artist studio and exhibition space in Little Italy.
Siry aims to create opportunities for artists to exhibit their work and for an audience to participate in meaningful dialogue. To further develop this goal, 1805 Gallery launched an Artist Residency program in the Fall of 2016. The residency is an opportunity for emerging artists of all media to explore concepts unique to their practice while interacting with the local community.
In addition to exhibition and residency programming, Siry offers curatorial services that include researching, acquiring, commissioning and framing works of art for a personal or professional space.
A lifetime devoted to the arts, Lauren Siry has created an extensive artist network while also working with private collectors and local businesses in San Diego. Her specialities include private collections, hotel art collections, curating art exhibitions and events.
“I see art as a universal language that transcends cultural, racial, social, and economic barriers, while enhancing awareness and connectivity.”-Lauren Siry
