GEO SERIES

The 44 panels originally complete a 176 foot suspended sculpture mural that was commissioned and installed at the San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park for Bloom Bash: Art Alive 2019. The Geo Series commission was the largest solo work to date in the history of the San Diego Museum of Art.

In 2019 Porto Vista Hotel commissioned Brooklyn-based artist Monty Montgomery to produce a site-specific artwork on the second floor of the hotel. Montgomery, well-known for his brightly colored geometric abstractions, painted two large-scale triangular panels intuitively responding to the hotel’s unique architecture. The artist employed his knowledge of color theory, mathematics and abstraction to transform the communal space.

Behind all seen things lies something vaster; everything is but a path, a portal or a window opening on something other than itself. - Monty Montgomery
