In collaboration with 1805 Gallery, the Porto Vista Hotel presents Correspondence, a group art exhibition of small works showcased in the lobby vending machine. Original poems, postcards, paintings, sculptures, drawings, and limited edition sound works will be available for purchase 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The exhibition aims to democratize art distribution and reinvigorate encounters with contemporary art.
The Porto Vista Hotel will host an art reception on Thursday, June 20, 2019, from 6 to 9 PM to celebrate the launch of the Vending Machine exhibition series.
On the evening of the reception, guests are invited to participate in artistic practices by Hillery Kemp and Kevin Devaney. Guests are welcome to collaborate with professional poet Kevin Devaney to produce a custom poem from his mobile typewriting station and create unique and meaningful postcards from recycled materials with Hillery Kemp of From. Kemp travels through San Diego in a 1971 neon green postal Jeep named Al Green which functions as an on-the-go, do-it-yourself greeting card station.
